How do you decide?
How do you decide? Thinking about the process of decision-making
Everyone faces difficulty making decisions at some point in their life. It might be a decision of what ice-cream to choose at the shop, what to wear each day or bigger decisions like what to study, what work you want to do, whether to get married or not or whether to buy a house. Whatever the decision, someone somewhere has had difficulty making it.
Why? Because whatever the decision we make, we still have to deal with the consequences. Some of these consequences are clear-cut and we might make a conscious choice that today vanilla will be fine, but I can get mango sorbet next time. Others might stand in front of the ice-cream selections overwhelmed by the options and not want to make the wrong choice.
In a lot of cases it comes down to how much uncertainty we are willing to live with. No decision is made in a vacuum. We can’t actually know a guaranteed outcome of a decision 100% of the time. We can educate ourselves as much as possible to try an minimise risks of an outcome we want to avoid, but all we are actually in control of is making the decision itself and taking the action needed. Even if you think you are avoiding a decision, you are actually making a conscious choice –to avoid choosing an option and accept the status quo.
Hypnosis is a great tool to helping gain confidence and clarity over the things you can and can’t control. Having this clarity of mind can help to be more open and accepting of the decisions we make. Understanding the process of decision making that works for you, enables you to focus on developing your personal skills to manage how you respond and adapt to our ever changing circumstances.
